Divine Emperor of DeathDivine Emperor of Death
Illumina was greatly tempted after hearing Davis's words.
She also wanted to enter the Empyrean Beast Stage. She had been in the Level Nine Immortal Emperor Stage for a long time, shackled by her bloodline. However, with this carcass, she knew she might be able to break through and mutate into a new race.
She stared at the carcass in her arms, wanting to feast on it right at this moment.
However, she forcefully held back, raising her head to look at him.
"If this works, I will bring down a tribulation which isn't good for our mission. I'll use it later."
Illumina forced the words out of her mouth before she stored them in. Only after a few deep breaths was she able to calm herself down.
Davis's brows were slightly raised in surprise.
He was impressed by her patience and discipline. He should say it was as expected of an imperial guard, but her loyalty really did supersede her desires, prioritizing his needs over herself. He was glad that he chose the right person to save and accommodate.
He honestly didn't expect such a thing from a rabbit as his image of them was rather quite naughty, like his parents.
"Honestly, I was willing to take a different route to bestow you a variation. I was wondering what would happen if variance is introduced after entering the Empyrean Beast Stage, but introducing variance in the Immortal Emperor Beast Stage is fine as well. If you can wait for some more time, then both your variance and entry into the Immortal Emperor Beast Stage will be smooth."
"Many thanks, master~ I will listen to you."
Illumina cupped her hands and bowed.
Davis was about to remind her again not to be formal, but he guessed that it didn't matter and turned around to continue descending the chasm.
On the way, the darkness only grew in density, further clouding their senses and judgment.
By this point, Mystic Diviner Hailac was out of commission. She began muttering strange phrases, and her eyes turned bloodshot, so Davis had to take her inside his life ring and calm her down.
"I'm sorry… for being useless…"
She sniffled as she sat helpless on the grasslands, but Davis's voice echoed.
"You did well to hold out in a place where even Autarchs go mad. You going mad was well within my expectations. Don't worry. Your abilities are only needed during the creation of the mini-realm, so you can rest until then. Now watch Tia accompany you in a few minutes…"
Mystic Divine Hailac blinked.
In five minutes, Tia was down here, turning to look at her with bloodshot eyes. She pounced on her, clasping her neck with both her hands as she snarled.
"Ugh… I'm going to… die... Yelp~"
Mystic Diviner Hailac pleaded. She dared not harm Tia and tried to push away Tia's arms, but she was too damned strong, contrary to her expectations. But a few seconds later, Tia eventually came to her senses and giggled awkwardly.
"Sorry, senior sister…"
"It's fine."
Mystic Diviner Hailac rubbed her neck and saw the imprint that was left.
She was about to ask why Tia wanted to strangle her, as the maddening whispers they heard wanted them to become self-destructive. It was the same for her; she desired to divine everything in her field of view to chart the most optimal course ever for their endeavor, which would get her killed. She thought Tia's would also be the same, but she targeted her.
But before she could ask, Illumina ended up here.
In her hands was a carcass that disappeared before she sank her fangs into it.
*Gasp!~*
The red slowly left Illumina's eyes before she knelt and slammed her head into the ground.
"I deserve a hundred deaths, master!"
"Chill."
Only a single word echoed from Davis.
She tried to eat the carcass and fulfill her wanton desire to devour. But Davis threw her here and took away the carcass to calm her down. A few seconds later, he returned it to her, making her feel ashamed. She was unable to even hold to herself to what she said.
Soon, Stella also appeared, but she seemed tamer than bloodshot. She simply floated away, looking at all kinds of flora he had growing within his life ring.
It seemed she was conserving energy to build the mini-realm once she was released.
Outside, only Davis and Lea were left.
It would be a lie if they said a strange tension didn't form between them, but right now, they are dealing with a few more feral beasts.
They killed three more Level One Empyrean Beast Stage Feral Beasts, all feline species beasts. It was strange, making Davis wonder what kind of space was behind the Whispering Rift.
A cat kingdom?
Would he be able to encounter cat-eared people?
While holding certain fantasies, he came across a large opening with tons of dark fern outgrowth. It was like a dome, and within the walls were numerous eerily glowing runes that flashed with gold-black light. They seemed to be directly or indirectly carved by the intense amount of darkness heaven and earth energy present here.
If darkness-attributed Early Stage Autarchs cultivated here, it is said that their improvement would be twice with the least amount of effort per cultivation circulation. But the danger was also great. After all, the darkness would invade their souls if they dared to absorb it and turn them mad quickly.
Nonetheless, these ancient natural runes seem to be directly gazed at and comprehended by a few people.
Davis counted individually. There were at least twelve of them with a single pan of his gaze. Some seemed to be nearer to the ancient runes, and some a bit outside, as though there was a hierarchy. They seemed to be in some kind of barrier that delayed the advance of the maddening whispers. Otherwise, Davis couldn't understand how some Sovereigns could stay here without getting corrupted.
Some of these Sovereigns were actually in the front row, making Davis believe these Sovereigns possessed a higher status. He felt there was a high chance they were from the imperial clan here. Otherwise, the Autarchs here would riot.
Naturally, if there were Sovereigns, Davis felt that there could be more people around the other corners or after crossing the pillars near the center of the dome. He didn't bother, though.
He was here for something else and needed to do it first. He went around, not disturbing them, but when he crossed the pillars, his footsteps came to a pause before he stared at a silhouette, which was seated behind many others. Although he could see in his darkness, he couldn't believe his eyes, causing him to rub his eyes and look again.
Although that person wore a face veil, he couldn't be mistaken.
"Verei... na… no way…"
Davis uttered absentmindedly with some surprise, not expecting to see Vereina here. What are the odds of him meeting her in the Three-Headed Hydra Lower Realm, much less in one of the danger zones?
Perhaps his words were like thunder out of the blue in this resounding silence. It woke up numerous people out of their reverie, including Vereina, who stared at him with some doubt as she inclined her head, wondering who he was as he was still in disguise.
"A mere Immortal Emperor dares to be loud in this area and disturb our cultivations? Courting death!"
An Autarch abruptly waved his hand while still being seated, causing a swirling vortex of darkness to be sent flying at Davis!
