When certain plants live long enough while absorbing loads of Natural Energy, they will evolve and become a “Treasure of Heaven and Earth.” That basically means that they gain some minor form of awareness.
What’s sp special about Treasures of Heaven and Earth is that they usually have ridiculous amounts of Natural Energy stored inside them, and that said energy tents to be tainted somehow.
In Yuna’s previous life, cultivators would capture these plants, shred… *cough*… mollify their awareness, crush… err… refine out the taint, and plunder… *cough*… cultivate the remaining energy.
And as far as Yuna could tell, that was precisely what the Juubi was. Although she still hasn’t started cultivating, couldn’t she just store all the good stuff for later?
Without waiting a single second longer, Yuna’s chakra cloak returned, and she dashed towards the Juubi at high speed, starling everyone around her.
“N-Nee-san, should we attack that thing together!?”
“Don’t worry about the detail and prepare for the next phase. This one will be over quickly.”
Although everyone had some doubts about that, since it was Yuna who said it, they could only trust her with whatever she planned to do.
Obito saw a single person approaching him and sneered in disdain.
‘I knew she was arrogant, but to think she would even dare to attack the Juubi by herself. What arrogance.’
Obito clumsily controlled the Juubi, making it slap one of its hands on top of Yuna, but how could she possibly be hit by such a monotone attack? Just before the palm strike could land, her figure vanished, and she reappeared somewhere else. Naturally, there were plenty of teleportation markers spread all around.
Due to that single slap, a gigantic dust cloud covered the ground around the Juubi, making it laughable easy for Yuna to approach it, and before Obito could react, Yuna shot out of the dust cloud and latched onto its stomach with her arms and legs.
‘Let’s see, what’s the best way to store this? Well, that’s pretty obvious, isn’t it?’
[*Urgh* At least store it as far away from me as possible. I don’t want to have anything to do with that screeching abomination.]
‘Yeah, yeah, chill, Kurama.’
Nine ice chains grew out of her back and stabbed into the Juubi’s body, causing it to roar in anger. Considering the Juubi’s size, the piercing wound the ice chains produced wasn’t even comparable to a mosquito bite, but that wasn’t the reason for its roar.
As soon as the ice chains pierced into its body, a complex arrangement of seals erupted out of the chains and covered the area covered by them.
“I’M DIGGING IN!!!”
Yuna could feel tremendous amounts of Natural chakra flooding into her body and getting sealed inside her mindscape, but compared to what the Juubi had, it was barely worth mentioning.
Nevertheless, Obito started panicking when he realized what Yuna was doing.
“Shit, she is forcefully absorbing the Juubi to become its Jinchuuriki. How is that even possible!? Wasn’t the Rinnegan the only thing that was supposed to control it!?”
“Stop speaking nonsense and stop her already, Obito!”
“I can’t, since I’m currently in the process of becoming its Jinchuriki. If I move, my connection with it will be broken instantly. Go do it yourself!”
“Myself!? F*ck, I barely recovered enough strength to stand straight, and you want me to stop that monster!?”
“Whatever, I’ll just become the Juubi’s Jinchuuriki. So what if she had absorbed some of its power? I will still be far above her.”
As soon as those words left Obito’s mouth, a cold expression appeared on Madara’s face. Would he really have to gamble on Obito being stronger than Yuna? Hell, Madara didn’t even know how long it would take Obito to finish his endeavor.
‘Seems like he is no longer useful to me.’
“Black Zetsu, do it.”
Before Obito could ask what Madara wanted Zetsu to do, a hand pierced into his back and out of his chest, shocking him greatly. He tried to use Kamui to phase through the attack, but he was currently connected with the Juubi, so he failed.
“M-Madara… *cough*… why?”
Madara sneered in disdain when he saws the confusion and anger in Obito’s eyes.
“Isn’t that obvious? From the very beginning, I always saw you as a tool, and now that you failed, again and again, to do what I wanted you to do, you only have a single useful ability left.”
Black Zetsu’s hand turned into liquid and covered Obito’s body, resulting in one half of it looking normal and the other looking like Black Zetsu.
“The ability to bring me back to the land of the living, allowing me to become the Juubi’s Jinchuuriki.”
Black Zetsu started forcefully moving Obito’s hands, making him go through a complex string of hand signs. As soon as Obito saw what his hands were doing, he started panicking.
“Nonono, not like that! I refuse to die as someone’s pawn! NOT LIKE THAT!!!”
Black Zetsu felt Obito’s resistance getting stronger, slowing down the rate at which he could form hand signs, but in the end, it didn’t matter.
“[Rinne Rebirth]”
A roar of anger echoed over the battlefield as Obito felt his life energy getting sucked dry. Surprisingly, he felt like he didn’t lose enough life energy to actually die from using the Rinne Rebirth. He could only guess that that had something to do with Hashirama’s cells.
Anyway, a weird-looking creature came out of the ground in front of Obito and opened its mouth, causing something to float out of it. After a short pause, the tiny thing zeroed in on Madara and flew into his chest, causing him to sigh in satisfaction.
Being in a reanimated state is not pleasant in the least, especially if one were to compare it to the feeling one gets after returning to life while simultaneously getting all your reserves filled to the top.
The cracks on Madara’s body vanished while his eyes turned into dust, leaving two empty sockets. Now that he was no longer reanimated, he would need to get his real eyes back. Despite losing his sight, Madra was delighted due to being back under the living.
“Finally, I’m back.”
