“What control technique?” Long Chen did not immediately comprehend what the Earth Cauldron was talking about.
The Earth Cauldron explained, “This fellow is extremely sinister. It may say that it’s splitting half with you, but it has placed a curse seal on these Silver Wing Heaven Devil corpses. With their secret art, the Heaven Devil race used the pile of corpses to seize the fortune of heaven and earth, trading death qi for life qi to revive these Silver Wing Heaven Devils.
“But the parrot found them and placed its curse seal on the corpses, absorbing the life qi created by the grand formation. To put it frankly, it has seized the fruits of the Heaven Devil race for all these years and has exhausted almost all the energy by now. It might seem generous, but even if it gave you half, these corpses wouldn’t be useful to you beyond serving as fertilizer for the primal chaos space.”
Long Chen replied, “Even fertilizer wouldn’t be bad. I just so happen to need some now.”
After all, the mysterious vine he’d recently acquired was absorbing a huge amount of life energy but still hadn’t sprouted.
If this continued, it would affect the growth of the other plants in the primal chaos space. Thus, when Long Chen saw these corpses, his first thought was to toss them into the primal chaos space to use as fertilizer.
“No, you don’t get it. These corpses might have been wrecked by this fellow, but they still have a bit of life qi in them. If used well, these corpses can be used as puppets for combat. Even with only a sliver of life qi, their combat power could match that of an eight-vein Emperor. They’d only manage one attack before collapsing, but I think you understand the value of such a trump card,” the Earth Cauldron clarified.
“An eight-vein Emperor?!” Long Chen was shocked by the potential.
“This parrot is no good bird. It’s full of tricks. You need to outsmart it to get the control technique. Otherwise, it won’t hand it over,” warned the Earth Cauldron.
Hearing that, Long Chen instantly understood. He had long since realized the parrot was untrustworthy.
When the green parrot was done chattering, Long Chen didn’t respond and just hacked Evilmoon toward it like a bolt of lightning. Long Chen didn’t hold back with this attack, even using his astral energy.
The green parrot thought that it had managed to convince Long Chen, so it was caught off-guard and unable to dodge.
BOOM!
A thunderous explosion rang out as Evilmoon rebounded off the parrot. To Long Chen’s surprise, blood dripped from his hand. He felt like he had just struck the stars, and the backlash had injured him.
The parrot, however, was unscathed. A green divine light swirled around it as Evilmoon struck. It was safe and sound, not even a feather out of place.
However, it furiously cursed Long Chen. “Are you crazy?! I’m talking nicely to you, and you dare to attack?!”
“Are you taking me for a fool?!” Long Chen roared, enraged. He followed up with more relentless strikes using Evilmoon.
The parrot spread its wings again, and the green divine light danced around it. It was furious and shot at Long Chen like a bolt of lightning, cursing, “You little brat, even without using my core energy, Lord Sixth can still crush you!”
The parrot was small, but shockingly fast, leaving countless afterimages as if thousands of parrots were attacking at once. However, no matter how it attacked, Evilmoon was able to accurately block it.
An ordinary person would have been overwhelmed, but Long Chen excelled in close-quarters combat. In moments, the two had exchanged a thousand blows.
BOOM!
Finally, Long Chen and the parrot were separated. Long Chen felt shocked as he spat out a mouthful of blood. Even after going all-out, he couldn’t beat a mere parrot.
Long Chen raised Evilmoon toward the sky. The eight stars behind him spun as he poured his astral energy into the blade, and a sharp aura locked onto the parrot.
The parrot’s feathers instantly stood on end, and it hastily cried out, “You little brat, have you gone crazy?! I have no enmity with you! Why must you fight me like this?! I already said I’d split half of the Silver Wing Heaven Devils with you! Just what do you want?!”
“If we have no enmity, why are you treating me like a fool?!” roared Long Chen.
“What are you talking about?!”
“You already placed a curse seal on these Silver Wing Heaven Devils. Their life energy has been sucked dry by you. What the hell am I supposed to use them for? Soup?”
“How... How did you know that?” the parrot stammered, stunned.
“Do you think everyone’s an idiot? Sending those cursed corpses into any astral space would spread the curse immediately. You act like you’re being generous, but you’re trying to kill me! You insult me and try to kill me—fuck, just thinking about it pisses me off. You Green Old Six, you’ve gone too far! Today, I’m going to kill you no matter what!” roared Long Chen.
“Stop, stop! Come on, let’s not fight. All the energy I’ve absorbed would be wasted like this. I admit defeat, okay? What do you want? Name your conditions,” the parrot cried.
“Hand over the control method for the curse seals, and we are even!” demanded Long Chen.
“Impossible! That’s my unique secret art! Why should I teach it to you?!” the parrot protested indignantly.
“Fuck, you’re the one who asked for my terms, and then you say something like that? You’re duping me, aren’t you? Fine, I’ll stick to my plan of going all-out against you!” Long Chen threatened, raising Evilmoon again.
“Fine, fine! You are Lord Long San, alright? Lord Sixth admits defeat!” the parrot grumbled.
The parrot, though enraged, knew it had no choice. Using its core energy would ruin all its efforts, and killing Long Chen would yield nothing. Begrudgingly, it had to relent. The sullen feeling it felt was enough to make a person cry. The parrot was about to go insane.
Once the parrot agreed, Long Chen lowered Evilmoon, though he remained in a combat stance. He said, “If you dare to dupe me, then don’t even think about getting out of this unscathed. I’ve never been so scammed in my entire life.”
The parrot almost died from indignation at that final sentence. It should be the one saying such a thing, no? It had been here for countless years, and now it had to split half the profits with someone, while the latter acted like they were the aggrieved party... It had never met someone so shameless before.
A green light emerged from the parrot’s forehead and flowed into Long Chen’s mind. The Earth Cauldron confirmed there were no problems, so Long Chen absorbed it. In an instant, a flood of information surged into his mind-sea.
“Curse it. This isn’t the complete technique,” the Earth Cauldron said.
Immediately, Long Chen’s anger flared again. He pointed Evilmoon at the parrot and threatened, “Alright, you Green Old Six, what do you think you’re doing, handing over only half the control technique?!”
The parrot jumped in shock as it hadn’t expected Long Chen to notice. However, it angrily responded, “Half is enough to control them! Don’t get greedy!”
“Fuck your sister, I’ve had enough of you! Let’s fight to the death!” Long Chen roared and shot at the parrot, slashing it once more.
“Fine, fine! Consider me afraid of you! I’ll give you the whole thing!” the parrot finally cried, its frustration boiling over.
On the other hand, a victorious smile threatened to creep onto Long Chen’s face.
