“How troublesome!” Qing Xi’s expression darkened when those people flew over.
“Why? Are they not from your sect?” asked Long Chen.
“They’re native disciples, and they look down on us foreign disciples. Even though we’re all outer disciples, they still want to suppress us to show off their superiority,” replied Qing Xi with an ugly expression.
“How can they tell you're an outer disciple? Oh, I see,” Long Chen said, glancing at their robes.
Those disciples had similar robes to Qing Xi’s, but the material was clearly different. It was glossier and brighter. In comparison, Qing Xi’s robes looked a bit shabbier. It was clear these people came from wealth.
Thinking of the robes he had seen in Pill Valley, Long Chen found that these kinds of robes were a luxury good in the cultivation world.
There were three men and one woman in the group. The man at the front had fair skin and complexion but appeared incredibly arrogant.
He gave Long Chen a dismissive glance before turning to Qing Xi. “Who is he? You’re just an outer disciple. You can’t bring outsiders to the Wind God Sea Pavilion.”
Furious at being interrogated like a criminal, Qing Xi retorted, “He is—”
“You don’t know who I am?” Long Chen cut in with a haughty tone. “Tell me, do you know Tang Wan-er?”
“Of course, she is one of our WInd God Sea Pavilion’s eight great divine daughters. But what does that have to do with a small-time Sage King like you?” replied the man as he sized Long Chen up, his disdain growing more obvious.
“I am her man,” Long Chen declared, patting his chest loftily.
“What bullshit! How dare you slander Fairy Wan-er? You are courting death!” cursed the arrogant man.
Not one to be outdone at a cursing battle, Long Chen pointed at the guy and countered, “You’re the one spouting bullshit! Your ass is shitting it right now! Shut it off!”
“Courting death!” the man roared and threw a punch at Long Chen’s face.
“Senior apprentice-brother, don’t!” Qing Xi cried out, though it wasn’t clear whether she was warning the man or Long Chen.
Pow!
Before anyone realized it, Long Chen’s hand connected with the man’s face, sending him flying backward. The other three disciples immediately moved to draw their swords, but as soon as they touched the hilts, an overwhelming sensation of death froze them in place. It was as though they had been thrown into an icehouse, paralyzed by fear. They could only stare in horror at Long Chen.
“If you attack me with your fists, I’ll just treat it as playing around. But if you dare to draw your weapons, I will see you as enemies. Unfortunately, I don’t show mercy to enemies,” said Long Chen coldly.
The three disciples were petrified. They had never encountered someone whose killing intent could form its own domain, locking down their minds, shaking their souls, and suppressing their wills. It was unbearable.
“I’ll kill you!” the slapped disciple roared, charging back like a madman.
Before he could land a blow, Qing Xi intervened, disarming him with a swift move. Caught off guard, his sword flew out of his hand, enraging him further.
“How dare you collude with an outsider to attack your own sect?! Are you rebelling against the Wind God Sea Pavilion?!” bellowed that man furiously.
Hearing this, Qing Xi trembled with anger. Though she hadn’t known Long Chen for long, she was sure he was a fearless man. If the disciple had attacked Long Chen, he would have died. By disarming him, Qing Xi had essentially saved his life. However, instead of thanking her, he accused her of treason. She was so angry that she couldn’t even respond.
“You’re too kind,” Long Chen said with a shrug. “You saved this fool, and he acts like you’ve harmed him. Why bother helping such idiots?”
“It’s fine. I just want to have a clear conscience at all times,” Qing Xi replied, showing a bitter smile. “Senior apprentice-brother Long Chen, don’t quibble with them. Let’s just go find senior apprentice-sister Wan-er.”
“You want to leave?! Keep dreaming! Capture that little fellow!” the man snarled, summoning his sword back to his hand. Along with the other three disciples, he blocked their path, and all four activated their manifestations.
“Scram!”
With one shout, a ripple spread from Long Chen, blasting all four of them away. They flew back in four different directions, and no one knew how far they went.
Qing Xi’s heart sank momentarily, but Long Chen reassured her. “Don’t worry, they won’t die. This is Wan-er’s sect, after all. I won’t kill people randomly here.”
Hearing that they were still alive, Qing Xi relaxed. She quickly led Long Chen around any other disciples they encountered, not wanting to stir up more trouble. As they continued, Qing Xi’s speed gradually increased. After all, she had almost limitless access to wind energy here, but no matter how fast she went, Long Chen easily kept up.
Rushing through this area, they flew by quite a few disciples of the Wind God Sea Pavilion who were hunting. Some called out for them to stop, but Qing Xi ignored them and continued to rush through with Long Chen.
“Is the conflict between native and foreign disciples really this bad?” Long Chen asked.
“Yes. We face immense pressure from the native disciples. However, the one who suffers the most is definitely senior apprentice-sister Wan-er. As the leader of the foreign heavenly geniuses, she’s constantly rejected by the other divine daughters. The eight divine sons also see conquering her as a challenge, competing amongst themselves and even gambling on it to humiliate her. Senior apprentice-sister Wan-er is essentially facing off against all the top heavenly geniuses of the Wind God Sea Pavilion alone. The pressure on her is unimaginable,” explained Qing Xi.
“Fuck, they dare to bully my woman? If I don’t beat the crap out of them, they won’t know who Boss Long San is,” Long Chen snapped, fury burning in his eyes.
“Let’s go, I want to see who dares to bully my Wan-er!” declared Long Chen.
Suddenly, Long Chen grabbed Qing Xi, causing her to cry out. His lightning wings unfurled, and with a twist of space, the two vanished.
