There was a boat drifting down the lake along with the stream. Li Anbo, Wang Xuan, and Shu Haonan were sitting in the boat’s center with seafood served on the table. At the tail of the boat, a chef was preparing the food.
“I never imagined that Mr. Shu would find a place with such ambiance.” Wang Xuan smiled.
“Anbo will be leaving Beijing tomorrow, so it’s natural for me to prepare a farewell dinner.” Shu Haonan smiled.
Li Anbo knew that Shu Haonan was shrewd, but he still knew how to behave on the surface. He smiled, “Then I’ll have to thank Haonan for your efforts. If you do visit Shanzhou Province, I will definitely reciprocate your goodwill.”
The three of them bumped their glasses as they emptied the wine.
Wiping his lips, Wang Xuan lowered his voice, “Haonan, what do you think of the cooperation that we talked about the other time?”
“I contacted a comrade of mine, and he ensured that there wouldn’t be an issue in the source. The problem only lies in the sales channel.” Shu Haonan smiled.
“It’s your opportunity now. You heard of the Germany spy, right?” Wang Xuan grinned.
Shu Haonan nodded his head. He could get some news about this matter, and he knew that Wang Guofeng was killed. “But what has it got to do with our business?”
“That Germany spy was Qin Jingyu’s contact, and 80% of his sales came from her.” Wang Xuan explained.
That something new for Shu Haonan as he had no idea about it. “Doesn’t that mean that Qin Jingyu will lose most of his orders? But we don’t have any sales channel ourselves.”
“The military will place great importance to Qin Jingyu if he’s still the largest seller, and we will definitely face obstructions if we want to enter this industry. But he has lost most of his orders, and some powers will definitely try to find someone more suitable. This will be your chance. Furthermore, Wang Xuan and I have already found several middle-man, and we can start our operation next week.” Li Anbo explained as he placed down the chopsticks.
Shu Haonan knew about Li Anbo’s capability well. The latter was ranked on China’s Elite Ranking, and he was even ranked above Qin Jingyu. His resources and potential weren’t something to be underestimated. This was also the reason why Shu Haonan was willing to join.
“We wouldn’t have to worry about the sales channel if Su Tao joined us.” Wang Xuan shook his head in disappointment.
“Nothing goes well with force.” Li Anbo looked at the tranquil lake outside. “He has already done a great job in clipping Qin Jingyu’s wings.”
“What has it got to do with Su Tao?” Shu Haonan was curious as he still had no idea of the connections in this matter.
“I have been keeping tracks of Su Tao’s whereabouts. He rented an apartment the moment he arrived in Beijing. A few days after that, he brought a woman and a baby into that apartment, which they were ultimately sent to the Wang Family’s Pharmacy. Shortly after that, the old divine physician, Wang Xi, visited an old man in General Street. Under that old man’s fury, an investigation team was formed to investigate Wang Guofeng’s death.” Li Anbo smiled.
As a smart person, Shu Haonan soon figured it all out. “So Su Tao was the one who reopened the investigation for Wang Guofeng’s death!”
“That fellow had rejected our offer. Since we’re not on the same path, then we’re enemies. There’s no need to talk about him anymore. Come, cheers!” Wang Xuan scoffed.
When Shu Haonan gulped the wine down, he sighed in his heart. Jiang Qinghan’s disciple was truly capable.
However, he wasn’t too bothered about it. He started pondering about the cooperation with Li Anbo and Wang Xuan. Along with China growing more powerful in recent times, China’s firearms were well received in the international market. Their firearms were cheap and effective. He was only joining as a middle-man, so he wouldn’t have to suffer any business loss.
Just when everyone thought it had all calmed down, Su Tao was far from done. He still had to find someone to compete with Qin Jingyu in the firearm business.
Wang Xuan and Li Anbo had introduced Shu Haonan to him, but Su Tao did not want to use Shu Haonan. He had already made up his mind to find a candidate himself.
He listed out all the people he knew on a paper before he focused on the last name.
After making up his mind, he gave a call to Ni Jingqiu, “I need a favor from you!”
“Why are you so polite to me? Just come out with it!” Ni Jingqiu smiled.
“I need you to help me ask two people out, Ye Sheng and Ye Ling.” Su Tao smiled.
Ni Jingqiu was surprised as she asked in suspicion, “Why do you want to ask the two of them out?”
“I’m going to keep it a secret for the time being. Find an excuse and help me ask the two of them out.” Su Tao felt that it was more appropriate for Ni Jingqiu to handle this matter.
As South Africa’s gold mine project progressed, the Ni and Ye families’ relationship had also grown closer. Seeing that Su Tao wasn’t willing to tell her, Ni Jingqiu agreed despite feeling somewhat uncomfortable in her heart. “I’ll ask them out later and update you.”
Ten-odd minutes later, Ni Jingqiu sent a message over. She told him to eat together tomorrow.
Ye Sheng was young, but he had an untamed wildness temperament around him. Ye Yilong had been having a headache for Ye Sheng’s prospects because he knew that his son wasn’t made for politics. Based on Ye Sheng’s personality, Ye Yilong knew that his son wouldn’t do well in the military that emphasized discipline. But it was a pretty good idea for Ye Sheng to go into the firearm industry like Qin Jingyu.
Ye Sheng was skilled, and he was also fond of pursuing excitement. So it might be a good idea for him to go into the firearm industry.
Most importantly, Su Tao was Ye Family’s benefactor. Su Tao could tell that Ye Sheng trusted him, and Ye Sheng was way more suitable than Shu Haonan.
Su Tao recalled Yue Zun’s suggestion after a brief rest. Yue Zun had suggested him to visit the National Healer Team to get acquainted with the people there when he was free. As Su Tao flagged a cab, he headed for the National Healer Team’s building.
When Yue Zun saw Su Tao coming, he waved his hand with a smile, “What a coincidence! Come, help me out with this!” Yue Zun smiled bitterly as he pointed at the pile of documents, “This is everyone’s data in the National Healer Team. According to Yu Youqing’s request, I am to mark the data into categories for allowance.”
“This isn’t an easy job.” Su Tao smiled bitterly.
Yue Zun sighed upon hearing Su Tao’s words. Even Su Tao could tell that this task wasn’t easy.
Yu Youqing wanted Yue Zun to classify all the National Healers. Like teachers in the education system, they were separated into special, advanced, and intermediate. Everyone had their own opinion on how it should be categorized, so it was something that could easily create a dispute.
This might seem to be an important task which expressed how highly Yu Youqing thought of Yue Zun, but Yu Youqing was just throwing Yue Zun under the bus.
If Yue Zun had rejected this task, everyone would feel that Yue Zun did not want to assume any responsibility. Since that was the case, then why should he be the leader of the National Healer Team?
But if Yue Zun had accepted this matter, then he might be the target of everyone’s anger if the standard wasn’t appropriate. The selection was just around the corner, and if Yue Zun had offended so many people, he would have to bid farewell to the position.
Yu Youqing’s scheme ran deep. He had tactfully placed Yue Zun into a difficult situation with this matter.
After a brief pondering, Su Tao asked, “What do you have in mind right now?”
“I’m thinking of going according to seniority in the National Healer Team.” Yue Zun knitted his brows. “I think it’s fair for everyone to be ranked based on their seniority.”
“I don’t think that it’s a solution. Some National Healers still hold a title in the team, but they’re no longer assuming any responsibility as a National Healer. If you’re distributing the allowance based on that, isn’t it unfair the juniors?” Su Tao smiled bitterly as he shook his head.
Yue Zun sighed, “Your words make sense. Some National Healers no longer assume any responsibility as a National Healer. They’ve only been coming to the building once or twice a year for a show. So it’s inappropriate if we give them a high allowance for their seniority. Why don’t we grade everyone base on performance? Every healthcare service performed by National Healers would be awarded with points, and we’ll grade the performance based on points?”
“This is a much better idea, but it will be troublesome, adding up the statistics.” Su Tao smiled. “Furthermore, I’m afraid those seniors won’t be happy with it.”
Nodding his head, Yue Zun was fuming with anger, “Yu Youqing is simply too vicious to throw me under the bus!”
“I have a suggestion. Why don’t we come up with two allowance scheme? One based on seniority, and the other based on the points system. This way, we will be able to cater to everyone.” Su Tao smiled.
Pondering over Su Tao’s idea, Yue Zun smiled, “We’ll go with that!”
Su Tao then helped Yue Zun to sort out the documents. With Su Tao’s help, Yue Zun soon sorted out an idea and finished the initial planning for allowance.
But as for the viability of it, it had to be discussed by everyone.
Seeing that there was someone in Yue Zun’s office, Shao Wentao couldn’t help knocking the door. He was curious about the progress of the task that Yu Youqing gave Yue Zun.
“Hey, what’s up?” Shao Wentao smirked.
“There’s something that needs to be urgently done. Old Yu had given this task to me.” Yue Zun still maintained his manners despite disliking Shao Wentao.
“Is it about the allowance?” Shao Wentao walked over. When he wanted to reach over for the documents on the desk, Su Tao had swiftly snatched it over.
Shao Wentao was briefly stunned by Su Tao’s sudden actions and mocked, “Can’t I take a look at it? Why are you treating it as a treasure?”
Yue Zun did not like Shao Wentao, but he still explained with manners, “It’s still in the initial phase. I’ll take it out for everyone to discuss when it’s done.”
Taking a deep glance at Su Tao, Shao Wentao snickered, “Being full of youthful vigor isn’t necessarily good.”
